Announcing an agreement with Shell International Exploration & Production Inc, to complete the qualification program for Salamander’s Subsea flowline heating system aimed at preventing and remediating flow assurance issues (download pdf).

Suncor Energy Inc. has received regulatory approval to test downhole electrical heating in a single well at its MacKay River SAGD project. The company intends to use the system to pre-heat the reservoir prior to steam injection and confirm the potential to reduce pad-level steam usage, accelerate production ramp-up and improve peak oil rates.
